Houston, Texas is located 50 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. It is the seat of Harris County, although it lies in three counties which are Harris, covering 583.450 square miles (which is home to most or all of 35 of the metropolitan cities in the region), Fort Bend with 8.080 square miles, and Montgomery with 2.598 square miles. Houston is the 4th largest city in the United States. It is home to well over 3.5 million people. Houston has a warm climate and supports a large amount of recreational activities.
